Paint Annapolis 2004 Exhibition of Juried Artists:
25 artists were selected to participate in the event competition. Each artist was allowed to exhibit no more than two paintings. This year's participants juror was internationally famous plein air painter Kevin Macpherson. He is the author of the book, "Fill Your Paintings With Light and Color". The judge for cash awards and prizes was Stephen Doherty, Editor in Chief of the prestigious American Artist Magazine. Cash awards totaling $1,500 were presented for paintings in various categories. Additional prizes included substantial gifts from many of the leading artist's materials manufacturers, including Winsor Newton, Golden Paints, Ampersand, and Pochade.com. John Ebersberger, one of our founding members, is featured in the February 2005 issue of American Artist Magazine, where he talks about his experience in the 2004 Paint Annapolis event, and how he handled the challenges of working en plein air with a model. Paint Annapolis 2004 was the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association's biggest event ever! Celebrating our 3rd year, the event encompassed four days of painting and exhibiting in historic Annapolis, MD. September 23rd through the 25th (Thursday through Saturday) were the main painting days, with an exhibition and reception held Sunday September 26th at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.
