Login Instructions
The website is up to date with all currently ACTIVE (paid in full to date) members. If you have allowed your membership to lapse for over a year, we keep inactive memberships in the database and you may be able to renew online. However, if you cannot renew your membership, contact the membership coordinator to assist you with updating your record and allowing you to log into the website. If possible, please try to use the instructions to log into the membership website. Most of the problems people have relate to email addresses or forgotten passwords.
Passwords
Passwords are needed to provide security and confidentiality to our membership records and event not open to the general public. When you join MAPAPA via the membership website page, you will be asked for your current, active, email address and to create a user password. Most failures to log into the membership website are due to two factors.
Members change email addresses and try to log on using the new address that is not recognized by the membership website. In this case you will need to email the membership coordinator and provide that person with your new email address. They will change the address in the membership system. However, they will not know your personal password. Only you have access to it. Follow the instructions provided below that will allow you to reset it yourself and maintain confidentiality of your membership record.
Members fail to log on to the membership website because they forget their passwords. You can reset your password yourself and not have to contact the membership administrator. Follow the instructions on the website to make a password change. These instructions are also outlined below this area.
Email Addresses
Please remember the email address you use to register with our membership website. Most of our members have no problems logging into the membership website, especially when they first join. However, as time goes on, members may abandon an email address and get a new one. When they try to log into the membership website using their new email address the membership website does not recognize the new email address. Hey, we are pretty good at what we do, but have no clue when you change email address to some extent. (Actually, we sometimes know because the email address we send you membership announcement gets rejected.) Unlike the postal service, our membership coordinator does not obtain your new email address so that email can be forwarded to your new location. You have to provide that.
If you change email addresses, you must contact our membership coordinator. The coordinator will have the ability to change your email address in the system. You will have to reset your password, because the new email and the old password are not synchronized in the system and you need to set it yourself to give you access.
For new members or expired renewals, your password is not assigned normally by the site administrator. Most of you will need to establish your password when you first login to the website. Here is how you do it. Yes, it appears strange that a new member is shuttled to the “forgot password” part of the website, but that portal in the membership website is the one established to handle all new and old password creation and validation. Trust us, if you follow the instructions, it works like a charm.
FIRST: Enter the name www.mapapa.shuttlepod.org in the address line of your web browser and go to it.
SECOND: Click on “Forgot Password” It is on the top right side of the site.
THIRD: You should be taken to a new page that says: “Reset password. Please enter your e-mail and the system will e-mail you instructions on how to reset your password.” The system will ask for your email address so that it can send you instruction on how to change your password. You must use the e-mail address you gave to MAPAPA when you became a member.
FOURTH: Open the email that arrives from our membership website. It will look similar to this. Your information and specific instructions important to you alone will appear in the text of the email.
Hello [Your Name will Appear Here],
A request was made to recover a lost password for this e-mail address at http://www.MAPAPA.shuttlepod.org.
To choose new password go to: [This will have a hotlink to where you need to navigate to on the mapapa membership website to change your password. It is specific to your login]. (if the link does not open - please copy-paste the link into the address line of your browser).
If you did not request a new password at http://www.MAPAPA.shuttlepod.org, you may safely disregard this e-mail.
Many thanks, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association
FIFTH: Click on the hotlink in the e-mail. It will take you to the website and a special password creation page. Enter a password of your choice that you will remember. It is totally secure. The password is not shared or known by the system administrators. If you lose your password, go through the steps above and reset it. Don’t contact the system administrator if you lost your password. None of them will be able to reset it for you. That is a security measure built into the system.
SIXTH: Login using your email and the new password that you created. This will unlock the membership features so that you can see areas that are exclusive to members only. Please Note: Many members have Earthlink and other related accounts that block outside email access. If you know a member with this type of account and have email access yourself to them, please pass this email on to those you know.
Thank you and enjoy the website.
