MISSION

The Bylaws of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, known as MAPAPA states that: “The Purpose of the Corporation is to educate artists and the general public about the artistry and traditions of plein air painting through workshops, exhibitions and public programs.  This includes promoting knowledge and appreciation among artists and the general public about the techniques and traditions of outdoor painting that directly depict the beauty in nature and in our surroundings by fine art painting executed in natural light.  The corporation will engage in charitable educational activity for and with artists, cultural organizations, the general public, businesses and other organizations to develop, promote and maintain standards for outdoor, plein air painting and to conduct associated educational, cultural and artistic activities for the benefit of all persons in the State of  Maryland and elsewhere.

MAPAPA continues to strive to fulfill its corporate mission by faithfully maintaining it 501(c) 3 public charity status and educational commitment to artists and the general public.  This is being done by sponsoring group painting opportunities, workshops taught by artists of national merit, exhibition opportunities and relationships forged with other painting organizations that further promote the same goals.

See the MAPAPA Activities page for a summary in images and works the variety of programs and hosted events that form a year in the life of this painting organization.  If you wish to become an active member and learn about the many activities organized by MAPAPA, visit the membership page for instruction on how you can join MAPAPA.

MAPAPA board members are always in search of volunteers who wish to organize any of the wide variety of activities this organization sponsors.  Please email any of our board members to discuss your interest in being involved in MAPAPA governance beyond the level of regular members.
